So today I received an email asking for me to renew my Boingo American Express Preferred Plan. For those of you who don’t know, American Express entered into an agreement with Boingo Wireless which allows for Platinum and Centurion members to access Boingo’s worldwide Wi-Fi network for free. And with Boingo’s 1 million + hotspots, this is another Amex amenity that can be very valuable when traveling abroad.
Although Boingo has inexpensive plans for up to 2 mobile phones/tablets, the American Express plan gives mobile devices plus laptops unlimited worldwide access, which can be used for 4 total devices. The global monthly fee for 4 devices and 2,000 minutes is $39, so for those who travel extensively, then it is well worth it. I’ve used it from airports to coffee shops across the world and it has helped me not rely so much on mobile data packages from local mobile providers which can end up being expensive. So, if you’re traveling and have one of these cards, I would definitely sign up and start using Boingo.
